AUDIOLOGIST: GRADE 1 -2 (HEALTH)
Key Performance Areas
To conduct adult and paediatric audiological procedures in accordance with best practice guidelines and engage in clinical research. To ensure that clinical resources are maintained according to protocols, which includes biological checks and reporting of faults. To work within a multidisciplinary team within professional boundaries. To supervise community service therapists and students. To comply with Performance Management processes. To participate in departmental team building and projects. To adhere to infection control procedures and assist with maintaining accreditation requirements.
Prerequisites
Appropriate qualifications that allow registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa [HPCSA] as an Independent Practice Audiologist. Current registration with HPCSA as an independent practice Audiologist. Experience for (R413 121.00) Grade 1: None after registration as Audiologist with the HPCSA. Experience for (R482 499.00) Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate / recognisable experience after registration with the HPCSA as Audiologist. Computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Virtual meeting platforms literacy. Competencies: Knowledge and skill in adult and paediatric hearing screening, diagnostic hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings, vestibular, electrophysiology and site of lesion assessment. Willingness to do after-hour work and be on call including shift work.
Person Profile
Training in Ethics. Knowledge of STA guidelines and protocols. Ability to use health information for planning. Ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of the application of clinical Audiology theory, practice and ethics. Knowledge of current health & public service legislation. regulations and policies. Appropriate assessments and treatment procedures for specific conditions. Good communication, report writing, facilitation, liaison, coordination, networking and decision – making skills. Project management skills and analytical thinking.
