Deputy Chief Education Specialist (DCES)

Key Performance Areas
- Manage the education specific planning inputs as part of the Provincial Infrastructure Plan, Departmental Service Plan, Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan.
- Review utilisation of facilities from an education perspective.
- Development, interpretation and customisation of functional planning norms and standards.
- Update information on NEIMS, EFMS and document management system for all built environment documentation.
- Apply the norms and standards to determine needs for school furniture and other equipment.
- Interact with Infrastructure Delivery to align commissioning plans with construction plans.
- Prepare schools furniture and equipment plans and coordinate procurement processes in collaboration with Departmental Supply Chain Management.
- Implement commissioning plans.
- Validate delivery and updating of asset registers.
Prerequisites
- A recognised three - or four - year qualification. as recognised by SAQA.
- Registration with SACE as professional educator.
- 8 years’ experience in the educational field.
- Valid driver’s licence with exception of person with disability.
Person Profile
- Facilitation and training skills.
- People management skills.
- Communication and report writing skills.
- Possess digital and computer literacy (MS- Word. MS Excel. MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook) skills.
- Sound knowledge of all major relevant education legislative and policies particularly those dealing with infrastructure provision and planning.
