Education Speech Therapist Grade 1
Key Performance Areas
- Assess. diagnose and manage speech. language. communication. voice. fluently. cognitive communication and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on patient needs.
- Provide and implement and group therapy sessions.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as required.
- Educate patients. families. caregivers and staff on communication and swallowing strategies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and prepare assessment and progress reports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions
- Refer patients to other healthcare professionals when appropriate .
- Ensure compliance with professional standards. organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in health - promotion. community outreach and quality improvement.
- Engage in continuous professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Prerequisites
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Speech - Language pathology, Speech Therapy or an equivalent qualification as recognised by SAQA.
- Valid and active registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Valid and active registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Experience working with children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders is an added advantage.
