Assistant Director Education Management and Information System (EMIS

Key Performance Areas

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Education Management Information System services.
  • Coordinate the provision of data to management for decision – making.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of data in SA-SAMS (South African School Administration and Management System).
  • Acting as an information node for schools on education law. policy. and administration.

Prerequisites

  • NQF level 6 or 7 qualification in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management or related fields as recognised by SAQA.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Education Management Information Systems (EMIS), school administration systems, data management, or related ICT environment, of which two (3) years must be at lower management or supervisory level of 7/8 within the related field.
  • Practical experience in the implementation, support and administration of SA-SAMS, LURITS, Data Driven Dashboards (DDD), data verification processes or related education information systems will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of database and reporting tools will be an added advantage.
  • Valid vehicle driver’s license except for people with disability

Person Profile

Knowledge of Education Management Information Systems (EMIS), data management principles, information systems governance and related ICT frameworks. Effective project management techniques, including planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of ICT and EMIS-related projects. Knowledge and application of principles and practices of effective management, supervision, leadership and team coordination. Human Resource and Financial Management skills, including planning, budgeting, resource utilisation and performance management. Ability to plan, organise and document complex system processes, system design activities and ensure alignment with institutional policies, procedures and business requirements. Ability to establish and maintain cooperation, collaboration, trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, planning and organisational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, priorities and deadlines effectively while responding to urgent operational requirements. Knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, current ICT technologies, enterprise systems, backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools. Knowledge of VB.NET, VBA programming or related automation and application development tools. Ability to support the design, development, implementation and management of medium to large-scale databases using various database technologies. Functional support knowledge of hardware, software, business applications, networks and information systems. Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) and data analysis/reporting tools. Ability to lead and manage teams effectively and promote continuous improvement in EMIS service delivery. Functional computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint
