DIRECTOR: LABOUR RELATIONS AND LEGAL SERVICES (TCS)
Key Performance Areas
- Manage and coordinate development of departmental policies
- Ensure consistent application of disciplinary code and procedure for the public service
- Represent the employer in resolving disputes.
- Manage grievances and constitute internal Conciliation Boards
- Manage and monitor industrial Actions
- Coordinate vetting documents and coordinating litigations and giving legal advice
Prerequisites
- A National Senior Certificate / an equivalent plus an appropriate undergraduate qualification (NQF 7) in Legal/ Labour Relations / Public Administration/ Management / Social
Sciences/ Office Administration or an equivalent qualification in the relevant field / area as recognized by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA)
- Proof of completion of the SMS pre-entry programme (Nyukela) upon the appointment
- Five (5) years’ experience at middle/ senior management level in Legal/ Labour Relations field
- Valid driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities)
Person Profile
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service i.e. Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Public Finance Management Act, Labour Relations Act, Skills Development Act, etc. Ability to work in a highly pressured environment and driven by a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
