Deputy Director: Consumer Inspectorate: Consumer Affairs (LEDET)
Key Performance Areas
Manage and facilitate the business compliance inspections. Conduct investigations on consumer complaints, business and port of entries in the province. Establish and maintain network and partnership with service providers and industry regulators aimed at protecting consumer rights. Develop policies and strategies and ensure proper complementation of consumer protection law aimed at improving service delivery. Manage resources of the sub-directorate.
Prerequisites
Grade 12 plus an NQF 6 qualification in Law / Management / Economics or equivalent as recognized by SAQA. Five (5) years’ relevant functional experience in consumer inspectorate and investigation of which three (3) years must be at supervisory level (ASD level). Valid driver’s license (with exception of persons with disability.
Person Profile
Knowledge of consumer matters, dealing with LPCA, CPA legislations, inspectorate and investigation environment. Detailed knowledge of consumer legislation including the following: Consumer Protection Act (National and Provincial), National Credit Act, Access to Information Act. Sound knowledge of regulatory framework for the public service regulations, Public Service Act. Ability to interpret and apply policies, advance knowledge and application general management and project management principles. Reasonable knowledge of the various pieces of legislation to assist in conducting inspections, investigations and persecutions. Ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels. Presentation skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Report writing skills. Computer literacy.
